God’s Love And Attention To Details Of His Creation Is Amazing!
Today I woke up thinking about how awesome God is. I began to think about all that He has blessed us with just because he loves us. The same God that put the stars in the sky and told them to stay is the same God that created every single thing you see and hear and smell. He created over 400,000 different varieties of flowers and over 950,000 species of bugs! Think about that a minute. He not only designed each individual flower and bug, he gave them characteristics and told them how they are to behave. Yes, he gave them their own characteristics. A beetle doesn’t act like a monkey and an ant doesn’t act like a Gerber daisy. Some call that instinct but they had to get that instinct from somewhere. Obviously, it came from their creator. The Bible says all creation yearns for God. Why? Because he created them in love just as he created us.
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power. For thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:11 KJV)
Man is God’s Greatest Creation
God created all those things because he is a creator. He can’t help himself. But God didn’t stop there. He created his greatest creation…US! He created man in his image with his likeness and characteristics. What a great honor that is. He loves us that much!
“For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. My frame wasn’t hidden from you, when I was made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my body. In your book they were all written, the days
that were ordained for me, when as yet there were none of them. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is their sum! If I would count them, they are more in number than the sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.” (Psalm 139:13-18 DARBY)
We can see that he thought out and designed every single person so that no two would be the same. Even identical twins are not identical. God created each of us one at a time and decided our hair and skin color, cowlicks, freckles, dimples, one finger longer than the other, our bubbly (or reserved) personality, our height, our ability to retain and recall information, etc. He didn’t say “You 5000 people over there will have red hair this exact color and you 2000 over there will have a dimple exactly right here in your chin.” No. He created each one of us individually and watches over us every second of our lives. When you look in the mirror know that He created all that you can see and what can’t be seen because he wanted a person exactly like you. Yes, He wanted YOU.
He is so mighty he has the ability to hear our words, both spoken and unspoken. But not just our words. He hears the words of every single person, born and unborn, in the entire world all at the same time. He knows our past, exactly what is happening to us now, and our future. Do you ever stand in a crowded room with everyone talking at once and try to hear one person? Do you ever get flustered and call your kids or someone else by a different name? Not God. Not once has he confused you or what you say with someone else.
We Imitate And Create
We were created in God’s image with his characteristics so naturally, we also have the urge to create. Recently, I was out walking on the grass. I was mentally patting myself on the back for managing to grow the grass I was now walking on. When we built this house, we had to tear up the farm field to clear the way for construction. Of course afterward, it was a huge muddy mess so we set about growing grass from seed, straw, water, and sunlight. But you know what? I could not grow or create any of those 4 ingredients myself. I needed them to grow something out of nothing. But God actually created the molecules and put them together and grew grass. He literally grew something from nothing. Not from seed, sunlight, water, or straw. He created it from nothing but his thoughtful imagination and his spoken word. In fact, he created not just the seed but the water and sunlight too!
Creativity Is Important No Matter Our Age
We naturally imitate our Father just as our children imitate us. When my boys were growing up my husband would design and build our houses as we lived in them. Mike is a creator. Like God, he can’t help himself. He can’t stand to buy something when he knows with a bit of thought and creativity he can make it himself. He gets so much satisfaction from building anything out of wood or metal. Whenever he could, Mike would have the boys next to him watching and learning. Their little minds didn’t miss many details. In fact, it wasn’t unusual for Mike to set down his hammer to grab something only to turn back around and his hammer and nails had walked off. Every scrap of wood would be eagerly sought after.
To keep ourselves sane, we bought the boys thousands of Lego’s hoping to encourage their desire to imitate Mike in a way that didn’t involve dangerous equipment disappearing. They would spend hours building houses and cities out of those Lego’s. They worked carefully on their projects selecting just the right Lego for the job. After many hours of construction, they would run to us and excitedly tell us every detail. In fact, sharing their creation with us was as much of a big deal as creating their masterpiece! It was heartwarming to see their joy in their creation.
We Make God Smile
Thinking about the pleasure we found in watching and talking with our boys, I bet God’s grin was even bigger than ours. Yes, we adults could grow grass from things God provides. Our kids could build elaborate houses with the Lego’s we provided. Both were amazing accomplishments in their creator’s eyes. When the grass began to come up, we would giggle and point out our efforts to anyone who would listen just as our boys did with their Lego creations. I imagine God felt just like we did when we would hug our little guys as they explained what, why, and how they did things.
I imagine God felt that joy with our pleasure at growing grass. Yes, he created the actual grass so for him us growing it was probably no big deal. Yes, Mike builds real houses instead of Lego houses. But what joy we felt at seeing our boys mimic their dad, to create something out of nothing and work so diligently to make it happen. I smile when I imagine God’s joy in us when we accomplish something equally amazing in his eyes. We adore our boys and couldn’t be prouder of the things they accomplish. That’s the kind of love Father God feels for us. He is the ultimate creator and we are the imitators. It pleases him to see us attempt to imitate him then eagerly run to him to share all the details of what we did and why.
“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children.” (Ephesians 5:1 KJV)
Slow Down, Adjust Your Perspective, And Enjoy!
As you look around your world today, allow yourself to slow down and think about the amazing ways God has chosen to bless you. The world may see what you’re seeing as boring and no big deal but you can choose to view it differently and appreciate it for what it is…a blessing from God. It could be an everyday-type of thing like the grass God grows for us or it could be something more complex like the partial rainbow I saw in the sunny sky yesterday. I had been stressing and praying about some things in my life and looked up toward the sun to see jets streams and two different parts of a rainbow on each side of the ball of sun. That was not something I could have created in my wildest dreams. But God knew what I needed.
He is always there watching, listening, and waiting for us to run to him so he can bless us. His love for us is humbling and I am so grateful for it. He didn’t have to create any of us, give us gorgeous rainbows as his promise on bright sunny days, love us, or give us so many different breeds of puppies to choose from. God didn’t have to send his only son to die for us or allow us into his heavenly places. But he does all the above and more simply because he loves us! Our God is an awesome, amazing God!
I love this posts! This is pretty much what my entire blog is about. Our God is so wonderful and I’m thankful that he gave each of us a unquie form of creativity.
Thanks Ashley! Sometimes I just get so overwhelmed with God’s awesomeness!
Thank you so much for sharing!! It is so true that God made each of us as individuals. I have a tough time with comparison but this post was a great reminder that he made me for a reason and that it’s completely different than everyone else out there. I really needed to read this today! 🙂
Hi Amanda! I had been struggling with comparing myself (and always falling short) when God started showing me how he has created every living thing to be its own individual self. He doesn’t lose track of who is who or why he made us a certain way. He is simply amazing! 🙂
I love this!! Yes, our God is amazing! As a molecular genetics major, I used to sit through lectures completely baffled by how my professors could credit CHANCE to all of the beauty of God’s creations. How could they look at a butterfly or a peacock, or a tiny forming seashell and think it just happened that way by chance? No, there was an amazing Designer behind it all. I’m constantly amazed by God’s glory, and the way He has created such beauty all around us, and inside of us…because we are absolutely His prized work.
Tiff, you are so right. As amazing as his creation is, we are still God’s prized work! Believing things just magically appeared takes so much more faith to my way of thinking. 🙂
This is beautiful! I recently read through a devotional about bringing out our inner creativity. It wasn’t so much so that we could be artistic or create beautiful paintings, but so that we could honor God with our creativity. As the Ultimate Creator, He created us to be creative too! He has supplied the tools and resources for us to bring out the beautiful masterpieces that He has planned for us. Just like you said, it simply requires us to stop, listen, and let God bring it out for us!
Thank you, Courtney! God is an amazing creator. When I was in one of my many art classes years ago I would always find myself astonished over the various levels of creativity in my fellow students. At the time, I didn’t realize that we, as humans, are God’s greatest creation. He is a good Father who lovingly smiles as he watches us imitate him. Be blessed!
