Hello! My name is Melissa, welcome to Cups to Crowns. I pray you will stick around as we dive into the Bible, learn about Jesus Christ, and how to cling to him as we get through this wonderful, crazy, messy life.
Our Background Does Not Define Us
I live in the Midwest surrounded by beautiful farm fields. I am married to the most wonderful man on earth. Mike and I have been married 25+ years. We gave our life to Christ shortly after getting married. It was the best decision we ever made. I was raised Catholic, he was raised Methodist. By the time our little guy came along, we found ourselves searching for more. We left the Catholic and Methodist beliefs of our childhood behind, pushed forward to see what God had for us, and have never looked back.
Time Passes In The Blink Of An Eye
Before we committed our lives to Christ, we made plenty of mistakes that we had to learn from, forgive ourselves for, and move on from. Actually, we continued to make many mistakes after getting saved but our perspective was different as we learned to live as God wanted us to live. Our life has taken many twists and turns but our faith in our Savior, as well as our commitment to each other, has continued to grow.
We were blessed with 3 sons (Jake, Nick, and Gabe) and a cuddly 100-pound fur baby (Smokie…aka The Mighty Prince). In between raising the boys and ministering to others, we have spent our married life remodeling and building our homes as we have lived in them (talk about learning patience, commitment, and time management!).
Life progressed and as we headed toward being empty-nesters we again found ourselves seeking God in a new way. We became relentless and of course, God did not disappoint. He has led Mike to resume preaching part-time and creating music. I’ve been led to women’s ministry and starting this blog. We are both so excited for this next chapter of our lives and can’t wait to see how God uses us to bless his people!
We All Have Opinions But What We Need Is The Truth!
One thing I learned long ago was that if we aren’t careful, learning to walk the individual path God has given each of us can be overwhelming. So many people have an opinion on what we should do in any given situation. If we were to ask 10 people their opinion on any given situation we would have 10 different opinions and everyone would be adamant that their opinion was the only correct one. But it doesn’t have to be that way. That is why I will always include scripture in my posts. Otherwise, I am simply giving my opinion and nobody needs yet another opinion thrown out there. What we need is truth and the only real truth is God’s Word.
My Heart’s Desire
First and foremost, the desire of my heart is to be an encourager to my husband and kids. But in addition to that, God has blessed me with gifts to disciple, encourage, and teach. I want to teach God’s women who they are in his eyes. I wish to show them that they are never alone and that they were indeed created for a reason. I long to share with them that God absolutely adores everything about them. My desire is that God’s women will draw closer to him and grasp that only through Jesus Christ can they have unexplainable joy, peace, and unconditional love.
We are often made to feel that the Bible is too confusing or simply does not apply to today but those are both lies of the devil. The Bible is our user manual on how to live day-to-day in a way that pleases our Father. Reading and applying what we learn is the only way to grow as a Christian. You can read more about my Christian beliefs here.
Please Join Me As We Learn Together
As you will soon discover in my posts, I absolutely do not know it all. I am still learning and growing. I want my walk to be real and transparent but I try really hard not to focus on the negative. We are all human and will never be perfect. That isn’t what this site (or my life) is about. I rely heavily on the Holy Spirit and desire to take you along and share with you what He teaches me. I strive to glorify Jesus Christ in every area of my life. I don’t always get it right but I thank God for his patience, love, and unlimited grace!
I pray that as you read my posts, you will feel free to share with me your questions, experiences, and revelations. After all, that is how we learn from each other!
